Give to SDSU Anthro

Join us in shaping the future of anthropology at SDSU! For over a century, anthropology classes have been taught at San Diego State University, training students to ask the most fundamental questions about humanity. If you are an esteemed alumni or a passionate supporter, your gift can support this legacy and empower the next generation of anthropologists. Be a part of the legacy that propels SDSU's anthropology department to new heights in the 21st century!

To support our department, we have two funds that are administered by SDSU’s Campanile Foundation.

General Anthropology Fund (Fund # C00826)

This fund is a versatile and important resource for supporting our department's program activities.

Donations to the General Department Fund are typically used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Student Support: Scholarships, fellowships, and grants for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in anthropology.
  • Research Initiatives: Funding for faculty and student research projects, fieldwork, and laboratory equipment.
  • Guest Lectures and Conferences: Support for hosting distinguished guest speakers, academic conferences, and workshops that enrich the academic and student experience.
  • Outreach and Public Engagement: Programs and initiatives that promote anthropology education and awareness within the university and the broader community.

Friends of Anthropology Fund (Fund # C03561)

This fund was established in 2008 by our Friends of Anthropology alumni organization to support activities of the Anthropology program including support for our graduation ceremonies. The fund provides a platform for donors, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the department to come together and contribute to the enrichment of anthropological education and research.

The fund focuses on:

  • Graduation Celebrations: One of the fund's core objectives is to ensure that our graduating anthropology (both BA and MA) students have a memorable and meaningful graduation experience. Donations are allocated to organizing graduation ceremonies, receptions, and events that honor the achievements of our graduating students and strengthen bonds within the anthropological community.
  • Departmental Activities: Beyond graduation, this fund supports a wide range of departmental activities that enrich the academic and social life of the department. This may include funding for workshops, seminars, retreats, and symposiums that promote intellectual exchange. Networking events that connect students with alumni and industry professionals. Or cultural events and exhibitions that celebrate the diversity of anthropological perspectives.
